Visits

  • 2017-01-06: We arrived in the afternoon after a multitude of car troubles. First off, our car died with a bad alternator. After waiting all morning, we were arranged a ride with some local guy with a car. I knew we were in trouble when he started pumping up one of the tires with a broken bicycle pump. About halfway to Buhoma, the tire blew out. Luckily, another man (who like the AC!) came by and gave us a lift to Buhoma. On the way there, some boy with a stick whacked the car. It was fun to watch our middle-aged driver try to chase him down.
  • 2017-01-07: Walked on the road deep into the forest where we also saw a few red-tailed monkeys. On the way back to the hotel, we nearly stepped on Gorillas that happened to be hanging out next the road. The rangers were not happy that we saw free gorillas...
  • 2017-01-08: We took an early morning walk along the road hoping to find some forest birds before all the people came along. Instead, we were interrupted by a parade of road gorillas. After some time, the wildlife authority came and yelled at us for walking on the road...
