Visits

  • 2012-07-09: For my next part of the journey, I drove north to the Duluth, Minnesota area to take a guided trip in the Sax-Zim bog. This area is supposed to be a good place to find the Great Gray Owl, and there are a couple of warblers that I was looking for as well. I arrived in Duluth late at night, and was going to be operating on minimal sleep since we were planning to get started at 5:00AM. I managed to wake up with the time to spare to toast a bagel before meeting up with the group. We spent the better part of 7 hours looking around the bog. We did not find the owl, but I did find four of my target species for the trip. The mourning warbler was heard but not seen. Birds 2, Scott 1
