Visits
- 2012-01-29: It was now the time to test our luck with New Zealand transportation. We arranged a bus ticket for a town near Miranda, but we were not sure how we would get to the accommodation. According to the sign it was only 6KM from the main road to the bunkhouse at Miranda, so walking did not seem out of the question. Before walking, I thought it would be good to try our luck with hitch-hiking. But, after waiting for a little while, I decided to up the game to "hitch-hiking for money". I was getting impatient because, due to poor timing, we only had one chance to catch the tidal flats at high tide(when the birds are closest). So, I walked into the antiques store nearby to offer money for a ride to the reserve. My plot worked, and we rode in the back of a pickup truck to the bunkhouse. The distance was greater than I had been led to believe, so it is a good thing that we didn't try to walk. We made it just in time to see thousands of shorebirds.
