A remote tundra covered island in the Bering Sea. The island has a small population of people and spectacular cliffs covered with breeding birds.
Visits
- 2010-05-29: We arrived on a cold and windy, but sunny, day on the island for a planned three day visit. Even though it was only late May, the days were quite long. We did a couple 12-hour hikes to explore most of the island. Luckily, some bad weather rolled in on day three stranding us for two additional days. The quirky flight schedules caused us to miss out on St. Paul Island. Maybe we missed out, but having flown over St. Paul on the way in, I am glad that we saw St. George first. St. George was one of the most scenic and interesting places that I have visited.
