Eastern Australia

11/10/2012: Before leaving Daintree Village for good, we thought it would be a good idea to take a trip on the Daintree River in search of crocodiles, snakes, and other cute animals. We arranged for an early morning "sunrise" trip to get out there before the throngs of tourists from Port Douglas.

Our trip coincided with a very high tide, and according to the boatman, crocodile spotting was going to be difficult at that time. Halfway through the trip, some intense rainfall began to add some adventure to the trip.

In the end, we never did see a crocodile, but we did see the location of a fatal crocodile attack. It was also interesting to see the huge mounds that the Orange-footed Scrubfowl uses to incubate eggs.
