2023-02-06: I had the bright idea to rent a car for our trip to Chicaque so that we could make an early morning visit to Parque La Florida. The car rental process was a nightmare, however, as we wanted to return the car the next day. This was not to be allowed as there are alternating day license plate restrictions in Bogota. After a long time trying to figure something out, it was determined that we could pay extra for a hybrid car that was not subject to the restrictions. So, very late, we headed off to the park amid a massive traffic jam. Then, the directions to the park were incorrect on the mapping software. When we finally got to the park, we found that the part we wanted to visit was closed during the week. Fortunately, there was a security guard who let us into the swampy area two hours after we had intended to arrive.
