Site Report: Kasai Rinkai Park

• 2016-03-17: After three weeks in the backwaters of Indonesia, I was shocked back into the modern world in Tokyo. The smallest amount of money available in the ATM at the Tokyo airport was about $100 (which was the largest amount available in Indonesia). So, I took some cash and navigated the incredible subway map to get to my beach spot in Tokyo. Japan was so clean in comparison, and instead of the massive piles of plastic trash that I had grown accustomed to, I found a grand total of six small pieces of plastic on the Tokyo beach. I was very jealous of all the public toilets around Tokyo as we can't seem to get that aspect of city life correct in San Francisco. After my trip to the beach, I headed over to the Tokyo Station to get lunch and catch a train back to the airport. Tokyo station was kind of sterile, but it was interesting to buy lunch in a restaurant using a vending machine. I had just enough money left at the airport to buy a bottle of scotch! I spent the trip home wondering how United Airlines manages to stay in business.
• 2024-03-01: We arrived in Tokyo Station, and there was some time to use before meeting with our friend, so we took the JR line to Kasai Rinkai Park. I had visited this park on a previous visit to Tokyo.
