Mining settlement
Visits
- 2015-03-21: We drove the snow machines on top of the frozen fjord and then over a glacier to arrive in the Russian mining settlement of Barentsburg. On the tour, we were told that this place was the paradise for Russian miners during the soviet era. Through the cloud of black smoke emanating from the coal mine, there were some nice views of the partly frozen fjord from our hotel.
