Visits
- 2015-03-20: After snowmobiling from Longyearbyen for a few hours through whiteout conditions, we arrived at the cabin in Van Mijenfjorden. The prospects for the eclipse were looking poor, and I was freezing after a bottle of rum broke in my luggage and soaked a couple of my layers. The next day, however, the clouds cleared. During the night, we were treated to a display of the aurora borealis. On the morning of the eclipse, the sky was 100% cloud free. We stood outside in -15 degrees fahrenheit to watch the total eclipse in leisure.
