Visits

  • 2013-01-08: After visiting the wetland area, we headed over to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. After some confusion at the ticket counter, it was decided that we wanted to pass on the dance performance and take the cable lift to the "Spruce Meadow". We were loaded into the "Green Bus" with about one million Chinese tourists to drive to the cable lift. Funny how the Chinese can get their act together to ban private cars in their nature areas. Anyway, we grabbed a corn on the cob for a snack on the way up. I am generally terrified of cable lifts owing to something I saw when I was three years old, but I think it was probably not allowed to walk up to the meadow. After an initial crush of tourists, we found ourselves all alone in the Chinese wilderness (walking on a boardwalk of course). It got to be a bit eerie after we arrived at a shine covered with wooden chimes to find everything closed. Fortunately (or not), the cable lift was still operating in what had become high winds. A very exciting ride coming down the mountain. We ended our day with a "Naxi Pizza" in yet another "Baisha Old Town"
