- 2013-03-07: The Bags We stopped at the Spring Valley Nature center on the way to the airport in search of a White-winged Crossbill that had been photographed there. We walked through snow for about one mile in the reserve. It is funny how one week of snow and winter can erase two months of sun and warm weather. The last leg of the trip was a flight from Chicago. We had traveled around the world in 66 days. And we waited at the baggage carousel in the San Francisco. And we waited some more. And so it is, the timing of the lost bags was perfect.
