- 2012-11-17: This was my last stop before getting on the flight to Sydney. I was still trying to clean dust from the car, so I couldn't really make too much of an adventure for the time waiting for my flight time. The island was interesting enough, and it was very hot and humid. The highlight of my trip to Redden island occurred right at the end of my hike. I heard a splashing noise from a bucket that was sitting behind a fence. Upon closer examination, I saw a Helmeted Friarbird had become trapped in a bucket of fresh water. I looked around, and I was able to find a stick which I used to tip the bucket of water. Free bird! The bird stood on the edge of the bucket for quite some time. I am sure it was thoroughly drenched, possibly freezing, and at any rate, I had just saved it from drowning in a bucket of water.
