Visits
- 2011-07-14: We arrived in the early evening, by bus, to our pousada, and that is when the first adventure began. The gate to the pousada was closed, and it was going to be a three mile hike to get there. This would not have been a problem if I had been able to activate the SIM card for my phone, but as we were to find out, foreigners are not allowed to have phones in Brazil. Luckily, there was a car coming out of the pousada, and the driver was nice enough to call for a pickup. The pousada was a nice place, but we found out upon arrival that much of the national park was closed due to some accident quite a while beforehand. Amazingly, we were never told about this by anyone before we booked our accommodations. We were going to have to be content to go on the waterfalls hike. The waterfalls hike consisted of hiking around to a series of small waterfalls and then swimming in them. For this, it was required to have a guide. The hike could probably be done in one hour without swimming, and there did not seem to be any possibility of getting lost in there as the path was clear and signposted.
