This field station is near the edge of the national park. It is accessible by walking or driving in the River. The area around the station is very densely forested, but there are some views from the river bank.

Visits

  • 2009-02-24: After securing our permits in Puerto Jimenez, we took a bus and truck to the trailhead crossing the national park. We hiked in the river bed for a couple of hours until we reached the Los Patos field station. The person working at the park office told us that we would find a restaurant near Los Patos, but we did not find such a place. We were the only foreigners at the field station though we did see several gold miners. Dinner and breakfast consisted of crackers.
