Visits

  • 2009-02-09: We left Tela and headed south into the no-man's-land of Honduras and Nicaragua. To break up our journey, we, decided to head over to this small village near Lago Yojoa. This area was also supposed to be one of the top birding spots in Central America (according to the guide book). We met some guy who runs birding trips in the area only to find that the best cloud forest birding was another full-on expedition from where we already were (and it took awhile to get to this spot as it was). There are some boat trips taking you into freshwater marsh, but looking for new habitat, we visited a shade coffee plantation instead. I would have liked to get up to the cloud forest, but the access was difficult, and we left by the afternoon to continue our journey south.
