2003-01-07: We arrived at Sossusvlei a bit later in the evening than we had intended, but we were lucky to meet a couple of South Africans from Cape Town who were nice enough to let us camp in their campsite. We then took an early morning hike into the desert to see the famous red sand dunes. On the way out of the desert, we managed to hitchhike in a car that almost immediately got stuck in the sand. Fortunately, a group of large women appeared from nowhere to help push us out of the sand.
