I actually have no idea what the name of this island really is. I found it while walking along the river bank from my hotel. It is popular to rent bicycles and ride them on this island which consists of floodplain, a couple of standing pools of water, rocky and sandy shoreline, riparian forest, grasslands, and oak/pine woodlands. The habitat here was markedly different than that at Stolby Reserve, in foothills a few kilometers away from the river. I saw more woodpeckers here than everywhere else in Russia combined.
Visits
- 2008-08-10: I walked to the park one afternoon, and I explored for the entire day just before heading to the train station on getaway day.
