Site Report: Cameron Highlands

Visits

• 2025-08-26: We decided to try one of the trails in the area of our hotel. After a bit of walking around, we did find a nearby trailhead. Unfortunately, the trail was mud and ropes, and Barbara vetoed the hike.
• 2025-08-27: We met someone from the hotel to show us around some of the trails around the center. Just behind some hotels, there was a nice area with some waterfalls. Later, we tried to make a trip to the Mossy Forest. On the way in, the road became very steep, and very quickly the brakes overheated on our beater rent-a-car. After letting the brakes cool off, we decided to try another area for a hike on the powerline road. This turned out to be a good area though the trail was a bit rustic.
• 2025-08-28: On the way out of Cameron Highlands, we made an early detour to the Mossy Forest. Not really worth it though as the long hiking trail (into the forest road) requires a permit that you can't get while you are up there. There was a huge crowd of tourists visiting the forest.
