- 2025-08-13: After a very long drive from Padang, we arrived in the hotel near the beginning of the trail up. We took a walk in the tea fields near the hotel, but I guess most of the birds from this area were already caged.
- 2025-08-14: We got a pre-dawn start to climb part of the way up Gunung Kerinci. There were a bunch of people climbing the entire way.
- 2025-08-15: Went back to the mountain, and this time we concentrated on the lower altitudes. There were non-stop chainsaws calling from nearby areas for the day.
- 2025-08-20: After a few days of mud further south, we headed back to the Kerinci volcano to spend some more time in that habitat.
- 2025-08-21: Another morning visit to the mountain prior to heading to Padang and Sipora Island.
