Visits

  • 2025-03-26: We were planning on meeting a guide who knows about the Grenada Dove, and eventually he arrived. Then, we walked around on trails in the thorn forest looking for the dove and other wildlife. We came back again later in the day to look for the dove some more. Unfortunately, we were never able to see the dove despite hearing it calling in the bushes.
  • 2025-03-27: In the early morning, we went back to the dove reserve. While we were walking to the reserve, we were able to grab a minibus for part of the way. This got us to the reserve early. We walked around on the same trails specifically looking for the dove. Again, we heard it calling, sometimes very near, but we could not see the bird. We walked around doing this for a couple of hours before it was getting time to give up. As I was about to walk out of the reserve, I heard a tiny noise in the forest behind me. There it was, the dove was on the ground right next to the trail completely fearless.
