Visits
- 2024-10-16: The next day, we were going to visit the Tayrona beach to look for Tamarins and the Blue-billed Currasow. It was hot and humid in a dense jungle, and we were not seeing a whole lot. We ended up walking down a horse trail, and this area was really disgusting with a rudded muddy road full of horse poo. So we went off trail. The first thing that happened is that I stuck my knee into some super spiky plant. The spikes were really stuck in my leg as I managed to get something else in my eye. So, my leg is full of spikes and eye is burning, and then I stepped on what looked like solid ground. It was actually quicksand, and my leg sank in all the way up to my waist. I was stuck, but fortunately, the guide was able to give me a hand to get out. We were still looking everywhere for the Tamarins and not finding them. The guide went off into the forest to look some more while I chilled out on the forest floor. After he was gone for a few minutes, the Tamarins showed up and gave me some good views. The last thing was to go wait by the road for Currasows to cross. We waited for a couple of hours. Suddenly, I saw a currasow about to cross the road. As I lifted my camera to get a photo, a motorcycle raced by scaring the bird. We went back to the guide's house, and we picked up his wife and baby for the final trip to Baranquilla.
