Ferry next to mangroves
Visits
- 2024-08-30: We finally reached the end of the road for the ferry to Flores Island. Getting the ferry ticket was a special kind of nightmare, but fortunately we had someone to interpret. We had to go to a supermarket, the bank, and a required but not working website. Finally, we went back to the original office with 100 other people to finally get the ticket for the ferry. While waiting for the ferry, there was a mangrove area full of very fast birds. Anyway, back to the ferry where we paid extra to get into the business class. This class basically had rows of bunks along the inside. Then there is a cubby hole where you can put your bags. Barbara misplaced her bag which caused quite the ruckus. Anyway, it was extra hot on the ferry while we waited in the harbor. It we were a little bit smarter, we would have chosen a bunk next to the fan. Instead, I was bunked next to a mom and her small restless child. So, between that and all the cockroaches, we arrived safely in Flores in the early morning.
