Site Report: Pulau Nuhakepa

Visits

• 2024-08-24: We continued on to Nuhakepa where we were staying for the next few days. The tide was out, and we did a bit of snorkeling outside the hotel seeing a bunch of fish and even sharks.
• 2024-08-25: We went on the official snorkeling tour with the hotel today. They took us over to another island where there were some volcanic vents. It was interesting to see the extreme lack of life in the area that had the carbon dioxide surplus, a preview of our future, unfortunately. There was still plenty of reef that was full of healthy coral, however. We were dropped off over the top of a reef where we drifted for a mile or more over so many fish. Later that day, I did the bushwhack hike around the island.
• 2024-08-26: We left early in the morning to take our trip to the top of the island.
