Cultural Village

Visits

  • 2024-08-20: After our trip to Mount Mutis, we continued to the south part of the island with a brief detour at a traditional fort. We got a demonstration of the egg divination method before eating at the pig restaurant again. Then, it was off on a very bad road to visit the Boti Village.
  • 2024-08-21: We spent the night in the Boti village where we met the local king. The village does not have any connection to the electrical grid even though the wires are very close to the village. The government gave the kingdom a satellite dish, but they don't have any electric to run the television. The only electricity is some very limited solar powered lighting. Anyway, this kingdom appreciates their birds, and they are not putting birds into cages. So, there are a few of the less common birds living around this place.
