Visits

  • 2024-08-04: After our trip to see bops in Waigeo, we were headed to Batanta to do some snorkeling and maybe even see the Northern Cassowary. We rode the boat across the strait, and once we arrived there, we got right into the snorkeling, which was impressive just off of the beach.
  • 2024-08-05: The day started with an osprey catching a fish just outside our housing on the beach. Then, we got in the boat to go visit the cassowary area. When we got to the cassowary place, it was discovered that it was basically a swamp. Of course, I left my rubber boots behind, and I was thus struggling to walk around in mud using flip flops. It was extremely annoying to do this, and I am pretty sure that there is some parasitic snail eating part of my brain after that adventure.
