- 2024-07-21: Headed over to the botanical garden early so that we could beat the crowds. After a couple of hours, we headed out back toward the Jakarta airport. There were some accounts online suggesting that the traffic could be epic, and I was worried about sitting in the car for many hours. Fortunately, the traffic heading out of Jakarta was halted, and the road was changed to a one-way road (except for a mini-lane for motorcycles). It is really astounding how bad the traffic is around Jakarta. The air is massively polluted as well, and I started to feel like I was sick. No need to smoke cigarettes there, the dirty air is free! In the end, it took five hours to get to the airport which is only about double the time without traffic.
