Visits

  • 2024-02-27: We headed over to the crane area, and amazingly, the Siberian Crane that I was hoping to find was standing right next to the road. At the crane center, we got a very chatty docent. She told us that there was nowhere to look for buntings and other smaller birds. I drove 1km down the road where I found the magic tree full of buntings, however. After getting a good look at some cranes, we were going to drop off the car and grab the next train heading east, but we just missed the closing time for the rental car agency. So, we were stuck in Izumi for the night. Some how, we found a place for Okinomoyaki in a residential neighborhood. It was some really good food cooked right in front of us and served on the grill.
  • 2024-02-28: Since we had the car until 9AM, we decided to use it to watch the cranes fly in in the morning. Then, we got on the train to continue toward Kyoto.
