Visits

  • 2024-02-02: We continued our "Support for the Cuban people" taking a collectivo to Moron. We really wanted to visit the Cayo Coco area, but unfortunately, those beach resorts are responsible for a lot of habitat destruction. It seems that there were Thick-billed Vireos in the Cayo area, but a hurricane destroyed a bunch of the habitat. Then, some developers came in and cleared the rest of the habitat to build an all-inclusive resort. The idiots who build these resorts cannot actually stand the environment that they are trying to sell, so they kill everything so they can plant all the same generic non-native plants and generic buildings to house their generic customers. So, anyway, the Thick-billed Vireo is nearly extinct in Cuba, and the beach has been privatized, and a bunch of people in Moron have flat-screened televisions.
