Visits

  • 2024-01-31: We continued on to Playa Giron in "Support of the Cuban people". We checked in to a casa particular, and then we went to a local restaurant for lunch. It was very disappointing to learn (after eating) that the restaurant had a caged Cuban Parrot. There is a real problem with wild birds caged in Cuba. It is my policy not to do business with people who participate in this unethical hobby. Anyway, we stopped over in a museum which showed some great detail about how the United States tried so many times to murder Fidel Castro since he was doing such terrible dictatorial stuff like teaching the Cuban people how to read and/or housing the homeless. The United states sent a bunch of Cuban exiles to try and overthrow the government while they bombed shopping centers in Havana with aircraft disguised to look like the Cuban air force. The invasion failed however, so we continue to oppress Cuba 60 years later. From the museum, we rode in some horse cart for a few miles to go walk around by some cenotes and even swim in them. We found out from some French people that a restaurant in town was serving sea turtle to tourists.
