: After an early flight to Sambava, we were off to the wilderness with some rum that I bought in Shop Rite. The rum bottle was lined with dried banana leaves. It was quite hot by the time we started hiking, but we managed to make it to camp one next to a river.

: We hiked up to camp two to spend the next night and to look for the Silky Sifakas which are mostly extinct. The guide was able to find them easily, in the national parks, the lemurs are not afraid of people. On the other hand, I did not see lemurs outside of protected areas. The hike to the Sifakas was a killer, and both my knees were about to fall off on the way down.

: I convinced Barbara to come and see the Sifakas this time before heading back to camp one for the night. I asked the guide to show us a frog instead of a night walk, and he obliged by catching a live frog and putting it on the dinner table.
