Stolby Nature Reserve is a forested area just to the southwest of Krasnoyarsk. There is a very popular trail that leads to some interesting lava pillars.

8/9/2008: Starting fairly early in the morning, I walked up to the most famous formations. I was told that this area was unique, but I have seen the same types of rock formations in other locations notably Pinnacles National Monument in California.
