Los Glaciares National Park - El Chaltén, Argentina (Center on Interactive Map)

El Chaltén National Park is also known for Fitz Roy, and its set of granite spires. The park also has alpine, scrub, grassland, and forested areas. There are several high-altitude lakes, and there is a swift flowing river of glacial melting.

2/5/2005: Four days in the park. Hiking to Cerro Solo on the south end of the park (day hike), then two nights backpacking to the Lagunas de Los Tres. We also visited an estancia to the north of the Lagunas de Los Tres as a day trip from our campground. Finally, we hiked back to town with a detour to the Laguna Torre lake and glacier. Hard hiking, but not so bad if you stash your packs for the hike to Laguna Torre.
