Washington Mutual Financial Services
I needed to transfer funds as part of a rollover IRA, and
since my checking account was with Washington Mutual, I talked to
Kristin Curtis at the San Francisco Washington Mutual Financial Services
Office. I chose Washington Mutual Financial Services in part because
Kristin Curtis assured me that there would be no fees on the mutual fund
provided I kept the money in for five years. Now, less that one year
later, Washington Mutual Financial Services has informed me that I have to
pay them $15 this year and $25 next year for an "account maintenence fee".
Now I am not one to say that they can't change their rules, but if they do
change the rules, you should be able to back out of the account as they have changed their
agreement. In this case, if I want to back out, I will have to pay
$90 to Washington Mutual Financial Services to do so. So, please be
advised that if you open an account with Washington Mutual Financial
Services, you can expect for unnamed fees to creep up in the future,
and that is why Washington Mutual Financial Services sucks. P.S. I do
not blame Kristin Curtis for this. She was very helpful when I called,
and it is not her fault that her company makes unfair policies.
